From the 26th October 2024, there was a change in legislation which affects all employers. The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality 2020) Act 2023, states that all employers must take reasonable steps to prevent the sexual harassment of their workers. This includes harassment from other workers, and also from third parties, such as customers, contractors and suppliers.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission have issued eight practical steps, which show the type of action that employers can take, to prevent and deal with sexual harassment in the workplace.
The document we've produced below includes the eight steps issued by the EHRC, which we hope will help in your own efforts to effectively prevent and deal with sexual harassment in the workplace.
